Yataki-jo Site
Yataki-jo Site, 2.5km southwest of the Sakunouchi Area, was built in the 16th century on a mountain peak 634m above sea level. Strategically situated for the defense of Iwami Ginzan, the fortress overlooks the Gourozaka Main Road where the Yunotsu Okidomari-do (Transportation Route) runs through on the north side, leading to the Yahazu-jo Site. Records indicate the fortress served as the stronghold of the Ouchi Clan warlords in 1528, but was taken over by the local lords of the Ogasawara Clan in 1531, who took control of the silver mine thereafter.
